Breast Lift, also known as mastopexy, is
a surgical procedure that can rejuvenate your figure by
restoring the lift and shape of the breast that is often
lost as gravity takes its toll. In this surgery, the breasts
are raised, the nipples are repositioned and the areolas
(the darker skin around the nipples) may be reduced in
size. Breast implants may also be placed at the time of
the lift if your breasts are small or if you have lost
fullness due to repeated pregnancy or simply the aging
process.
Mastopexy is performed in Dr. Barber's fully
accredited office surgical suite and is done under general
anesthesia. The surgery takes approximately 2 to 3 hours
to perform and you can expect to leave the office about
1 to 2 hours following the surgery. Generally patients
are able to return to work one week following the surgery.
After surgery, the lifted breasts are firmer and a more
youthful appearance is restored.
During your confidential consultation with
Dr. Barber,
he will discuss the potential risk of the surgery, and
will answer any questions that you have specific to your
case. Good candidates for this surgery include women who
have pendulous (droopy) breasts that lack substance or
firmness, breasts in which the nipples and areolas point
downward and are positioned below the lower breast crease.
