Q: How much does plastic surgery cost?
A: Pricing is highly variable and is procedure specific.
Since we have our own private free-standing surgical facility,
costs are kept to a minimum and are far less than if the
same operation were performed at a hospital.
Q: How much is the consultation fee?
A: From $75.00 to $150.00, depending on the time necessary
for the consultation.
Q: How long after my consultation can I
have my surgery done?
A: Typically three to six weeks depending on the procedure
in question.
Q: Will my insurance cover cosmetic surgery?
A: No.
Q: Does your office offer patient financing?
A: We currently offer financing through Care Credit, a
division of GE Capital Consumer Card Company. This can
be done in minutes through our office or you may get online
to qualify yourself. Additionally, we accept VISA and
Master Card.
Q: Why is it called "plastic"
surgery?
A: "Plastic" comes from the Greek word "plastikos"
which means to change or mold. Though we occasionally
use synthetic materials in our surgery, the true meaning
dates back to the Greek language.
Q: How long does it take to recover from
plastic surgery?
A: The recovery time is largely procedure specific but
most outpatient cosmetic surgical recoveries fall in the
3-14 day range.
Q: Will I have a scar?
A: Any incision in the skin will leave a scar. We are
adept at placing the scar in locations and orientations
that tend to blend very well and/or are readily concealed
by clothing.
Q: Can I see before and after photos of
other patients?
A: Because of new federal regulations regarding privacy
(HIPAA laws), we are very limited in being able to show
photos of other people.
Q: Is there a charge for touch-up procedures?
A: This is highly variable. Our goal is to make you happy.
However, sometimes issues enter into the equation that
are beyond our control. If a charge is to be incurred,
we strive to make it as economically feasible as possible,
usually just enough to cover costs.
Q: Is there a discount for multiple procedures?
A: It is usually more cost-effective to combine two or
more operations in a single surgical procedure as charges
are reduced. However, we will not compromise patient safety
by doing too many operations at one time just to minimize
expense.
Q: Do I have to stay in Greensboro the night
of surgery?
A: This is variable depending upon the type and length
of the operation and the distance you would need to travel
to reach home. Typically, though, you do not need to stay
in Greensboro the night of your surgery. Please ask about

Q: What's the difference between a tummy
tuck (abdominoplasty) and liposuction?
A: Liposuction deals exclusively w/ excess fat whereas
an abdominoplasty addresses excess fat and skin while
at the same time tightening the underlying muscles.
Q: How much weight do you lose with liposuction?
A: Liposuction should not be considered a weight reduction
operation but rather a body contouring procedure. Typically,
people will lose a small amount of weight but the greatest
benefit is in the shape/size change that results.
Q: Do breast implants go under the muscle
or on top of it?
A: Dr. Barber almost always puts implants UNDER the muscle
as there is less risk of scarring problems and the breasts
tend to look and feel more natural.
Q: Are breast implants safe?
A: There is no evidence that breast implants lead to cancer
or any other disease process. Dr. Barber can answer more
specific questions at the time of
your consultation.
Q: How long does a facelift last?
A: A facelift lasts forever. Though a person will continue
to age, the gains created by the facelift will always
be present.
