SILICONE IMPLANTS GET FDA APPROVAL
Late in July, the FDA
gave approval with some stipulations to the Mentor Corporation
to return the Silicone Gel implant to the market. For
the last 12 years, the silicone implant has been available
to patients for special circumstances only. Now every
patient will have a choice on which type of implant is
best for her. Although the Saline implant remains the
"workhorse" implant, there are times when a
silicone implant is a better choice for patients. If you
are interested in learning more about the new cohesive
silicone implant, make an appointment with Dr. Barber
and let him explain the advantages and disadvantages of
this implant.
BOTOX® and RESTYLANE
Botox Cosmetic is now the number one cosmetic
procedure in the U.S. Botox Cosmetic is used to treat
wrinkles in the forehead, frown area, crows feet and around
the upper lip. Another very popular wrinkle treatment
is Restylane which will fill wrinkles that do not
respond to Botox cosmetic. These wrinkles include lines
around the mouth and the line which runs from the nose
to the corner of the mouth. The combination of these two
wrinkle treatments can offer very exciting results.
