A brow lift, or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure that restores a more refreshing and youthful look to the upper part of the face. The procedure minimizes forehead creases, drooping eyebrows, hooding over the eyes and frown lines.
In a brow lift the muscles and tissue that cause the frown lines and droopy eyelids are altered to smooth the forehead and raise the eyebrows. There are two techniques that may be used for the brow lift. The more traditional technique is when the incision is hidden in or just below the hairline. The other technique is performed doing an endoscopic lift which involves the use of an instrument that allows minimal incisions.
Dr. Barber will consult with you to determine which method will be best for you. The best candidates for the procedure are men or women over 40 wishing to minimize the effects of aging on the face. A forehead lift is often performed in conjunction with a face lift and often times with eyelid surgery.
Length of Surgery
Surgical facial procedures, such as a brow lift, are typically done in our onsite AAAHC accredited surgical suite under general anesthesia. On average a stand alone brow lift is 2 hours. Patients can expect to go home within 1 to 2 hours after the completion of the procedure. If a brow lift is being combined with another surgical facial procedure, Dr. Barber will determine the amount of time a patient can expect for surgery at the consultation.
The average patient can return to work in 7-10 days and resume unrestricted activity, such as exercise, within 2-3 weeks.
